Australia's Most Prolific Onshore Basin

Project Windorah is located in the Cooper Basin, Australia's most prolific onshore petroleum-producing basin. Covering 480 km², the site represents a significant Basin-Centred Gas play and was recently awarded a 15-year-plus Potential Commercial Area (PCA) by the Queensland Government — a major regulatory milestone that sets a defined pathway toward development.

The project sits in close proximity to substantial existing developments and has easy access to gas plants and pipelines connected to domestic markets and LNG hubs. This infrastructure advantage means Windorah doesn't require greenfield pipeline construction to reach customers — a significant cost and timeline advantage over more remote gas assets.

Resource Scale & Well Results

Four gas wells have been drilled at Windorah — Tamarama 1, 2, 3 and Queenscliff 1 — underpinning a 2C gas resource upgrade to 330 Bcf and a 3C gas resource upgrade to 770 Bcf. A pipeline licence has already been granted between the Tamarama area and Mt Howitt, providing a clear route to market for future production.

Development Pathway

Eastern Gas continues to review development options for Windorah, with immediate work focused on proposed coil tubing enhancements on current vertical wells and design work for future horizontal (or near horizontal) wells with multi-stage fracs targeting the upper and middle Patchawarra sandstone units. The company is also likely to apply for a retention licence for large parts of the project, locking in long-term tenure security while funding options for the next development phase are explored.
